Terms of Service

By requesting services from SGH Painting, submitting an estimate request, or signing a project agreement, you agree to these Terms of Service. These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and SGH Painting regarding residential or commercial painting services.

All written estimates are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Estimates are based on the scope of work described at the time of assessment. Changes to the scope of work, including additional rooms, surfaces, or services requested after the quote is issued, will be reflected in a revised written quote before work proceeds. Estimates are fixed-price unless the scope changes. We do not charge more than the quoted amount without your prior written approval.

A deposit of 25 to 50 percent of the total project value is required to secure your start date. This deposit is non-refundable if you cancel less than 72 hours before the scheduled start date, as materials have been purchased and the time slot has been reserved. Cancellations with more than 72 hours notice will receive a full refund of the deposit.

The remaining balance is due on the day of project completion, upon your approval of the final walkthrough. Accepted payment methods include e-transfer, credit card, and cheque. Invoices not paid within 15 days of completion are subject to a 1.5 percent monthly interest charge on the outstanding balance. SGH Painting reserves the right to place a lien on the property in accordance with the Construction Act (Ontario) for unpaid balances.

You agree to:

• Provide safe, unobstructed access to all areas being painted
• Disclose any known hazards including asbestos, lead paint, or mould
• Remove personal items, valuables, and fragile objects before our crew arrives
• Ensure pets are secured away from the work area
• Communicate any changes to the project scope before work begins

We are not liable for damage to items left in the work area that were not disclosed or removed prior to the start of work.

SGH Painting provides a five-year workmanship warranty on all residential painting services. This warranty covers:

• Peeling, cracking, or flaking caused by our application technique
• Missed areas or incomplete coverage identified after project completion
• Bleed-through of stains that should have been primed

The warranty does not cover damage caused by moisture intrusion, structural movement, physical impact, improper cleaning, or normal wear. Exterior paint warranty is limited to three years due to environmental exposure conditions. To make a warranty claim, contact us at info@sghpaintingca.com with photos of the affected area. We will respond within 48 hours and schedule a repair visit at no cost.

Unless otherwise specified in your written quote, we use premium paints from Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams. Paint colour selections are confirmed by the client before purchase. We are not liable for colour dissatisfaction arising from viewing colours on digital screens or small paint chips, as monitor calibration and chip size can affect perceived colour. We recommend ordering a sample pot and testing it on your walls in natural and artificial light before approving a colour for the full project.

SGH Painting does not perform work on surfaces suspected to contain asbestos or lead paint until appropriate testing and remediation has been completed by a licensed specialist. If hazardous materials are discovered mid-project, work will pause and additional charges may apply for extra prep, containment, or scheduling delays.

SGH Painting's liability for any claim arising from services provided is limited to the total amount paid for the project in question. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages. Our liability for property damage is covered by our general liability insurance policy, a certificate of which is available on request.

If a dispute arises that cannot be resolved through direct communication, we agree to attempt mediation before pursuing legal action. Any legal proceedings must be brought in the courts of Ontario, and this agreement is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario.
